Leto Xavier: Ascension

'Leto Xavier: Ascension' is a short film by Kate Norquay about my flatmate. I helped Kate to make the film, and also pop up in it. If you like art and distracted, intense men with spiky hair this is for you.

If someone would like to go out with Leto I might be able to hook that up if the applicant is "very, very, brave". If you just want to check out his art it's at letoxavier.daportfolio.com.

Deadlines

'Deadlines' is part of BATS Theatre's 2012 Young and Hungry Season and I'm the Sound Designer. It's a twisted tale of High School and murder. Here's the blurb:

"Nothing out-of-the-ordinary ever happens at Wellington's prestigious Arrowhead High School, and that's just the way Tracey Aldridge, the ambitious head photographer for Arrowhead's student newspaper, doesn't like it. But when arrogant new student Daniel Ward barrels into Tracey's life with wild claims of murders and cover-ups within Arrowhead's student body, Tracey is thrust into an investigation where the money shot could come at a steep price..."

You don't get an idea of the intense pace of the show from that but perhaps this collage of my sound design demonstrates some of that frenzy.

Psyrok and Lil' Sister Jen

Wellington producer Psyrok with the help of Swedish vocalist Lil' Sister Jen has crafted a lovely collection called the Akinosuke EP. Though at 26 minutes in length I'd say it's a mini-album (I've spent far too much of my life contemplating the difference between albums and EPs). I thought seeing as the pair had never met it would be interesting to get them to talk about their music. Thus was a piece for Music 101 on Radio New Zealand National born.

Psyrok and Lil' Sister Jen on Music 101

I didn't realise it until I got his email address but Psyrok is one of my fellow DJs on Muse Radio. Listen to him on the Sidestream show on MUSE RADiO 12-3PM NZT on Sundays.

MSW

Here's a piece I did on Auckland band Moron Says What?!?! (order and amount of exclamation and question marks optional) for Music 101 on Radio New Zealand National.

Moron Say What!? on RNZ

I saw spin off band Lol-Fi recently and they're certainly worth a listen, if you're into joyful mentalism and distorted vocals. Which I am, particularly on the track Saaam.

The Podcast Directory

‘The Podcast Directory’ is the first long form piece I did for radio. Heavily clip and music dependant it’s a flawed but entertaining introduction to the world of podcasting in 2007. Ably if nervously presented by my friend Kirsten, much of it reflects my listening podcast-wise at the time.
